Generating unique generic style numbers
In a previous help topic it was showed how to use a prefix (usually * asterisk) to tell Shopkeeper that certain generic styles should not inherit all the details from previous Sku's of that style - common with Estate items.

A related issue is that you might possibly want Shopkeeper to help you make unique/ serialized Styles for such items. The main reason for that would be if you were to (now or later) upload your inventory records to a website.
For the most part export files destined for websites send just one record per style regardless of how many different Sku's that style has had. E.g. If you stock Leslies Chain XYZ-999 but have 5 Sku's for that style, you don't want five different web pages for that same chain style.
Also note that the Website Description and Title boxes on the Style Detail page of Inventory status is shared among all Sku's of that style. I.e. it is not possible to have different information on that page for the different Sku's of that style.
But, if you have 10 different estate pendants, but you put them all in with style *PENDANT, you *do* want 10 different web pages, each with different information and pictures.
Shopkeeper can help serialize/uniquify them by appending #1, #2, #3, etc. to the style.
This can be done as you initially log in the merchandise. From the inventory entry screen, type the generic style, finish the description, cost and price, then Right-click the style box and the style will be appended set to the next available suffix.
In a similar way, the style can be retroactively serialized/uniquified via the Inventory Status page.
