If you have a version older than 7.5, then there is no emergency patch. Quite simply, your program will have some limitations. If you choose not to get the latest update, then  perhaps you could have a local database expert create some report tools which work off the Jewelry Shopkeeper data files for you to try to side-step the date limitations.

For Version 7.5 and 8.2 Read Here:

The Patches are not Guaranteed

We certainly have tested them at Compulink and expect them to work and help within the limited scope of their capabilities. But, sorry, we can’t issue a guarantee that they will help every user of version 8.2 and 7.5 because even within a single version number, sometimes there are some program differences between program shipped on different dates.

What the Patches Are Designed to Do:

The patches will add a few tools to help users of old versions employ parts of the program  for a time.

A)    A few key reports have been updated to allow you to type desired date ranges (such as a date range for sales) where you can specify dates with 4-digit years. The included reports are: 1) Itemized Sales [6,2,3]; 2) Commissions [ 6,C]; 3) Inventory [6,5]; 4) Sales Posting [8,6,8]; 5) Checkbook [5,7]; 6) Cash Requirements [5,2,4]

B)    Because some dates in the data will be 20th and others 21st century, the above reports will still not be complete so a special utility is included that locates any date stored as 1900 to 1910 and corrects them to 2000 to 2010. You will need to run this utility before running any report. The utility is called Y2KDAT.

What the Patches Will Not Do:

A)    They will not patch versions prior to version 7.5

B)    These patches will not make old programs completely Y2K ready

C)    They will not help patch reports other than those listed above.

D)    Those supported modified reports won’t automatically be correct unless you remember to run the Y2KDAT utility before any report.

How to Download and Install the Patches

Although these patches are provided at no charge, Compulink will not be able to provide technical support resources to help download and install these patches.

However, with the help provided on this page, your local computer expert should be able to quickly install these patches. If Compulink has support resources available beyond those needed to service customers with the current version, tech help is billed at $2.50/minute.

From below, select the files appropriate for your version and save it to the COMPLINK.JS folder on the hard drive where your program is installed. Then run that self-extracting file which will install the files.

Important Note:

You must make sure you have a complete backup of your jewelry program and data folder; that is you want to have a complete backup of the COMPLINK.JS folder and all of its subfolders.

If you have Version 8.2, download this file to the COMPLINK.JS folder. Then to install this file to uncompress the patches go to the black and white COMMAND MENU. To get to the COMMAND MENU either type JS and press Enter at a DOS prompt or you may have a windows icon called JS-MENU which will take you to this menu.

At the ENTER YOUR CHOICE-> prompt type:

V82STEP1 and press Enter

then type:

Y2KPATCH and press Enter

then type

JS and press Enter.

If you have Version 7.5 Click Here for the 7.5 Patch File v75step1.exe (Dec 17 1999 74KB)
