General Y2K Issues Year 2000 (Y2K) problems are caused by computers’ use of dates with 2-digit years. The results are various uncertainties due to ambiguities as to what century a date refers to. Further, most software, including Jewelry Shopkeeper depends on your computer’s internal calendar being correct. Many computers’ internal calendars become erratic after 12/31/1999; sometimes they will remember the correct year, other times they will revert to an old year such as 1980. Therefore it’s vital that you check your computer’s date every time before running the Shopkeeper until you are sure your computer’s calendar is maintaining the correct year If your computer’s internal date/calendar is incorrect, it will give the wrong date to the Shopkeeper and/or will result in a FATAL DATE ERROR when starting the shopkeeper.
