COMPULINK 3300 Overland Avenue, Suite 201 § Los Angeles, California 90034 § 310 × 204 × 5121
Instructions for saving inventory picture files. This feature works with the Shop-Pro version of the Jewelry Shopkeeper.
2) Determine the filename for each inventory items picture file.
The file name is usually the SKU number of the item, but without the in the middle and with .GIF (or .PCX or .TGA or .TIF or .BMP also replace the .GIF file extension noted below) added to the end.
If the major class code of the item is one digit wide, add two 0s (zeros) before the filename. If the major class code of the item is only two digits wide, add one 0 before the filename.
For example, the picture for the SKU number 121-10201 should be saved with the filename \INVPICT\12110201.GIF The picture for the sku number 3-00211 should be saved with the filename \INVPICT\00300211.GIF The picture for the SKU number 22-10233 should be saved with the filename \INVPICT\02210233.GIF
3) Using your scanner, video capture card, digital still camera or graphics program, save the picture in a GIF or other file type with the appropriate filename. To make smaller pictures which appear on the screen more quickly and which need little disk space, save the file with a resolution of 640 ´ 480 pixels ´ 16 colors. For better quality pictures you can save at a resolution of 640 ´ 480 pixels ´ 256 colors. Note that higher quality images take more disk space and take more time to display on the screen.
4) You can view the pictures from Display an Item Status from the Inventory screen when you search by SKU number. Also, you can view all the pictures by pressing [9,M,P] at the Main Menu of Shop-Pro. (You can also press P1 to have the pictures display one at a time, or P4 to have them display four at a time.) You can also search for pictures of merchandise with certain price or category criteria from the Inventory Reports section of the program. (from the Main Menu, press 6,5,A,A,A,A). You can see pictures by choosing More Options while highlighting the item on the sales screen.
5) To ensure the pictures display quickly, configure your computer to have at least 5MB of Extended memory available when you run the Jewelry Shopkeeper. You or an acquaintance will have to be familiar with expanded/extended memory managers: Compulink cannot configure the memory in your computer.
6) If you want to store images in a directory other than \INVPICT (e.g. C:\IMAGES or F:\PHOTOS ), add to your C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT file the line: SET INVPICT=C:\IMAGES or SET INVPICT=F:\PHOTOS
