Instructions for Installing Windows 95 Icons for a Workstation on a Network

  • Go to the workstation, open MS DOS Prompt. (by clicking on Start, Programs, MS DOS Prompt) Go to the COMMAND MENU of the Jewelry Shopkeeper (by typing F: <Enter> [or whatever drive letter is assigned to your network] ,then type \JS <Enter>). At the COMMAND MENU, from the Enter Your Choice-> prompt, type

    JSICONS and press Enter

If this says bad command or filename, then you don’t have this new utility, so type the following lines manually.

    COPY *.ICO C:\WINDOWS

    COPY SHOP-PRO.PIF C:\WINDOWS\DESKTOP

    COPY SHOPKEEP.PIF C:\WINDOWS\DESKTOP

    COPY JS-MENU.PIF C:\WINDOWS\DESKTOP

    EXIT

Then go to the windows desktop where you will see the new icons. You need to edit the Properties of these icons. (by right clicking the icons and choosing Properties.) Next, click on the Program tab. In the Working Directory box (only) add F: to the beginning of the working directory entry. Do this for each icon. If you have assigned a different letter than F: to the network drive, then type that drive letter instead. Be sure to add this F: to the begining of the working directory, leaving the original entry in place and be sure not to add a space after the F:
