For Vendors*} To restrict printing to items from one vendor only, or a series of vendors, enter a range of vendor codes, and those vendors' items will be printed. To print tags for items from only one vendor, enter that vendor code as both the starting and ending vendor code. Only use this option if you want to restrict tags to items from a certain vendor.

For Brands*} To restrict printing to items from one manufacturer, or a series of manufacturers, enter a range of brand codes, and items from those brands will be printed. To print items for only one brand, enter that brand as both the starting and ending brand in the range. Only use this option if you want to restrict tags to items from to a certain brand.

For Major Class Codes *} Use this choice to print items with a specific major class code, or within a range of class codes. To print items from only one major class code, enter that class code as both the starting and ending major class code. Only use this option if you want to restrict tags to items from a range of major class codes.

For Last Five Digits of Sku Number *} This is best explained with an example: If you wanted to print the items with SKU numbers 101-00500 through 101-00750, type 101 in the Major Class Codes option, as explained above. Then type 500 through 750 in the Last Five Digits option. This option is rarely used.

For Minor Class Codes *} To print items with a specific minor class code, or items within a range of minor class codes. To only print items within a single minor class code, enter that class code as both the starting and ending minor class code in the range. Only use this option if you want to restrict tags to items from a range of minor class codes.

For Dates Received *} To print items received within a certain date range. Type in a range of dates and only items received on or between these dates will be printed. Only use this option if you want to restrict tags to items received during specific dates.

For Price Ranges*} To print tags only for items within a certain price range, enter the lower and upper limits of the prices you want to include. Only use this option if you want to restrict tags to  items in a certain price range.

For Purchase Order*} To print tags only for items from one particular purchase order, enter the purchase order number here. The Jewelry Shopkeeper will search for and display the vendor code for this particular purchase order. Remember to enter the # sign if you are trying to print tags from a purchase order number assigned using Enter Existing Inventory.

For Invoice*} To print tags only for items received on one particular invoice, enter the invoice number here. The Jewelry Shopkeeper will search for and display the vendor code and purchase order number for this invoice.

Options A and C control the quantity of tags to print and the sorted order the tags are to be printed.

Quantity:*} This choice controls the number of tags that to be printed for the selected items. You may override any quantities selected here by using choice G. For example, suppose you had an invoice with 20 different items and you only wanted to print tags for 2 of them. Select Quantity: Zero, then using Choice G, fill in the number of tags for the items that need tags and leave the other items as 0. If you wanted to print a tag for each item received from the vendor, choose Received. If you had made a purchase order but have not yet received any goods, you can print tags in advance by choosing Quantity: Ordered. If you wanted to print replacement tags only for items in stock, you would choose Quantity: In Stock.

Change Tag Layouts*} This option allows you to modify some aspects of how the tags print out. See the end of this chapter for more details on changing the tag layouts.

Sort By:*} The tags can be printed in order of SKU number, brand or vendor. Choosing None will print the tags in the order in which they were entered into the computer. Press <Enter> on the Sort By: option until the desired sort order has been selected.

Options D and E pertain to the type of tag and the tag size. Options F and G refer to the information to print on the tag for each item. If you select a Custom Tag in option D then options E, F and G are ignored since the format of the custom tag overrides these choices.

Ring, Gift, String, Custom, Thermal, Laser Tags, Cards*} Ring tags are the dumbbell-shaped tags. Gift tags are rectangular-shaped. Kassoy brand string tags have a thin string you can thread through small jewelry parts and fold back and sandwich the two sides of the tag. The Ring, Gift and String tags are pre-formatted by Compulink. Custom Tag 1 is originally set up to print Arch Crown Computer String tags (Style CT308). Custom tags 2 and 3 are for your own use. You may modify the layout of any of the custom tags to print on any tags that you may have and in almost any way that you want. Customizing tags requires knowledge of a database management system, such as Foxbase. The Laser tags print ring tags on sheets of eighty and can print barcodes and may only be used if you have requested the optional laser tag feature and purchase specialty tags from Kassoy. The Thermal tag option will print ring tags on either a Zebra Z-95 printer or a Barcode Blazer printer. Both of these thermal transfer printers are specialty printers which can only print tags and they also print barcodes on the tags. Thermal transfer tags tend to be much more durable than laser printed tags.

The Card option will print inventory information on plain 6ʺ×4ʺ index card, and can print a great deal of information about each item.

Large or Small Tags*} This option is valid only when Ring or Gift tags have been selected in the Ring, Gift, Custom or Laser Tags option above. Large ring tags correspond to Arch Crown style number CT312. Small ring tags correspond to CT311. Large gift correspond to Avery labels style 4144. Small gift are Arch Crown’s CT310.

Price to Print:*} Almost always, you will want this to be Per Unit Price. This will print the item’s price on the tag for regular inventory, or the per unit price for inventory sold by weight (e.g. $30/gram). Mark this selection as Average if, for items sold by weight, you want the average price per piece on the tag. If you price a certain item by weight at, say, $4,000 per carat, and you have two items for a total weight of 1.60, you should choose the Average method if you want to tag to indicate $3,200. Choosing Per Unit Price would print $4000.00. Choose Neither if you don’t want a price to appear on the selected tags. Chose Price-Code if you want the price encrypted on the tag.

Print Brand & Style, Cost Code, MSRP or None*} Since space is limited on jewelry tags, you can print either the style number on the tag or your cost code or the MSRP (manufacturer’s suggested retail price). (see Store Information Defaults on how to set up a cost code)  The large ring tag has enough room to include the brand code with the style number. If you wish, you may print none of these options.

First, check options 1 through 9 to be sure the correct items and other information have been selected before choosing options H or I.

Edit Quantities or Review Items then Print Tags *} This option will start printing the selected tags. This option will allow you to change the number of tags that will print for each item. Choosing this option will bring up a screen in which you can enter (in the left column) the quantities of tags you want. To leave the screen where you type the quantities, press <Ctrl-W>.

Highlight this option and press <Enter>. A screen similar to the following will appear:

LOC_QTY1 SKU_NO--- DESC--------------------- VEN_CODE

___      ___-_____ _________________________ ___

___      ___-_____ _________________________ ___

___      ___-_____ _________________________ ___

___      ___-_____ _________________________ ___

___      ___-_____ _________________________ ___

___      ___-_____ _________________________ ___

___      ___-_____ _________________________ ___

___      ___-_____ _________________________ ___

Each item that you have selected will appear on the screen. The cursor will be in the LOC_QTY1 field which is the number of tags to print

You may change the number of tags to print for each item by changing the LOC_QTY1 field, or cause no tags to print for the item by changing the quantity to zero. Changing the quantity on this screen will not affect the quantity on the actual quantity in stock for the selected inventory items. Use the <↑> and <↓> keys to move to any line you need to change, and type the quantity of tags to print for each item.

If the level of password protection for Modify Tags Before Printing is 11 (See Password Assignments) then you will not have the option of changing the description of the displayed items, only the quantities. If you set the password level to 1, then you will be able to change the description that prints on the tag, however, this is not recommended.

When the quantities are correctly set, press <Esc> and skip to step 4.

Print Tags Without Reviewing Items *} This choice will start printing without reviewing the items that were selected in choices 1 through 9. Unless you are absolutely sure that your selections in choices 1 through 9 selections are correct, you should not pick this choice because you may end up wasting inventory tags by printing items that you had not intended to. It is recommended that, in general, you choose option H, not I. Skip to step 4 if you choose option H.
