1. Select from the Menu
At the DOS prompt, type JS and press <Enter>. From the system menu, select option 1, Jewelry Shopkeeper.
With the next three steps, the system will automatically display the screen, and you do not have to choose these options from the menu.
2. Store Default Information
This section lets you customize the program to match your store’s needs. See the Store Information Defaults chapter in the System Maintenance section.
3. Set Colors
If you have a color monitor, you can change the colors that are used for screens and data entry. It is recommended that you accept the existing colors for now. Later, if you want to change the colors displayed, refer to the Store Information Defaults chapter in the System Maintenance section for more information.
Note that if you have a monochrome monitor, this option will not appear during setup.
4. Accounts Receivable Defaults
See the Store Information Defaults chapter in the System Maintenance section.
When you have completed this step, the menu will appear. If your system uses passwords, choose option 9, LOG IN to enter your password.
For the remaining steps in this chapter, you must select the option from the menu. When you refer to a chapter, the first step in the chapter will tell you which menu options to select.
5. Class Codes Maintenance
Before you can enter your inventory, you have to set up your inventory categories. See the Class Codes Maintenance section in the System Maintenance section for details. Also see the appendices for hints on setting up major class codes.
6. Vendor Maintenance
Enter all your current vendors on the system. See the Vendor Maintenance chapter in the System Maintenance section.
7. Sales Clerks Maintenance
Enter all your sales clerks on the system. See the Sales Clerks Maintenance chapter in the System Maintenance section.
8. Enter Existing Inventory
To enter your current inventory, see the Enter Existing Inventory chapter in the Inventory section.
9. Customer Maintenance
Enter all your current customers on the system. See the Customer Maintenance chapter in the System Maintenance section.
Jewelry Shopkeeper is now ready for daily use.
