Connecting ZipTape Thermal Transfer Tag Printers

  ------------------------------------------------

To use the ZipTape with Shopkeeper, you have to have a program

update or maintenance dated July 2007 or later. (i.e. check if you have

the file Tagzip.fxp  the \complink.js\pro folder - if you don't

then you need an update.)

Using the CD that came with the ZipTape printer, install a Windows

Printer driver then try to print a test using the label program

that came with ZipTape.

* If the test doesn't seem to work, right-click My Computer, Properties,

hardware, Device Manger, Ports and check if ZipTape created

a new virtual COM port such as COM3. Then, check the properties

of the new ZipTape printer driver to see if it's port is set

 to this new virtual port.

* If you still can't get a test print, Call ZipTape and they'll

wall you through it in a blink.)

Right Click the Windows printer icon for the ZipTape.

Choose Sharing. Choose Shared As. Type in a useful name such as ZIPTAPE

(in capitals)

MAKE SURE NO SPACES ARE IN THE PRINTER NAME.

Right Click My Computer and choose Properties and the

Computer Name (or Network ID) Tab.

Note the FULL COMPUTER NAME (e.g. OFFICE, Back, Jerry etc)

(Not that this is usually in the middle and it's not the "computer

description")

If there are Spaces in the Full Computer name, then

CHANGE THE NAME TO NOT INCLUDE SPACES. If the name is a

crazy mess of numbers and letters then you probably ought

to change it to a simple name such as OFFICE

In Shop-Pro, Choose Printer Redirection (choice 8,b).

Go to an appropriate printer definition number (e.g.. 11 for the Thermal

Transfer) Hit the F2 button which should show you a list of shared

printers. Select the ZipTape and press Enter

That should fill in the Port with LPT3, the Queue with something

like \\OFFICE\ZIPTEST  and the Q-Type with NET

Press Esc. Change the appropriate print job(s) (e.g. Thermal Transfer

Printer) to the print number (often 11) you changed in step: D

From Shop-Pro main Menu choose 2,5 for tag printing, and set line

D to THERMAL.

Still in the tag printing screen choose B for Change Tag Layouts

then choose T for the printer language.

Press Page down and choose 1 (or any number) for the tag layout.

Then you can configure the tags the way you want.

Below is a sample layout that may or may not exactly

fit your tags but which is a good starting place.

The 'across' and 'down' measurements below are in terms of 'pixels' for the

printer which are normally an eighth of a millimeter each. So... if you

need to move the sku number 2mm to the right then that equals 16 pixels.

E.g. if the sku number is currently set to 275 across then you'd adjust that

to 291 across. If you want a line of text further down, increase the pixel

count or decrease to move up.

To do a print test choose option J "Print Tags for Miscellaneous Items"

from the Tag Printing screen. There you can select a Sku number and you

should select a quantity of about 3 or 4 for a test (one alone isn't

good for a test)

For any item that should NOT print choose 0,0 for the Across and Down position.
